Meet the Director – Lloyd Kirkby

At the heart of i Spy Solar LTD is our director, Lloyd, whose experience and passion for renewable energy guides everything we do.

After leaving school, Lloyd trained as a fully qualified carpenter. This early career gave him expert knowledge of roofing, load-bearing structures, and engineering principles — skills that are invaluable when designing safe, efficient solar PV systems today.

With a drive to take on bigger challenges, Lloyd became a site manager and later a project manager. Over the years, he successfully managed multi-million-pound commercial and domestic projects, working with electricians, engineers, and builders across all trades. This gave him a deep understanding of how properties are built — and how to retrofit solar and battery systems seamlessly into them.

Bringing together decades of experience, Lloyd launched i Spy Solar LTD. His goal was simple: to provide Cornwall with a trusted, local solar installation company that combines premium products, technical expertise, and customer-first service. Today, the company is thriving, delivering bespoke solar solutions across Newquay, Truro, St Austell, Penzance, and beyond.

Life Outside of Work

When he isn’t designing solar installations or supporting his team, Lloyd enjoys spending quality time with his partner and children. His passion for sustainability is driven not just by business, but by a desire to create a brighter, greener future for his family and the wider community.
